| Trudging through the white sands of Boracay in 2013 |
When I first came to Boracay, I was amazed by the clear waters and pristine sand in Station 1. As I reached the shore, the waves crept gently toward my feet. I also felt the scorching heat of the sun penetrating deep into my system. It was so hot that I felt the urge to swim into the waters. I then quickly changed into my swimwear and went to the crystal-clear cerulean waters.
However, before I took a dip, I looked down on the shore and asked my dad why the sand was color white.
He said that corals are needed in the formation of sand. He added, "One single coral contains polyps and these polyps give the corals their white color when they die."
I thought that what my dad said was really interesting. I pondered on it for a while before I decided to swim to my heart's content.
